Our Work Homelessness Prevention A Recipe for Prevention Meet Cara... Cara is a food project coordinator for Bristol Goods. She knows that access to good food does good things. Helping household budgets go further reduces the risk of debt and a housing crisis, and supports wellbeing. Importantly, it leads to conversations which provide information, advice, and support to reduce the risk of homelessness at the earliest stage. We know that the factors that can lead to a housing or homelessness crisis are complex, but Bristol Goods our food-led prevention service is helping to reduce the risk of a crisis from happening. Food is just the starting point, and our pop-up shops are safe spaces to talk about housing concerns without stigma. Cara, and her colleagues and volunteers, have been able to support the project's beneficiaries to take control of the situations that bring the threat of homelessness with them. For some it means a homelessness is prevented, and for others it means the return of stability after a period of homelessness. Working Creatively The team work creatively, and sharing cost-effective recipes that use Bristol Goods' produce and minimal energy are just one way that beneficiaries can have greater control of their limited incomes.
