Latest News Bristol Cares at Christmas We're currently bringing together the statistics and perspectives to create the impact report for Caring at Christmas 2024. The project is already looking like it was the busiest year yet - a sign that it is still a much needed resource at a challenging time of year. The project is also a demonstration of what happens when Bristol comes together to support people who are facing some of the harshest conditions in the city. We greatly appreciate everyone who is involved, showing the world that #BristolCares. Our catering operation was huge, powered by the kindness of restaurants, chefs, businesses, and volunteers. In this news piece, we do a round-up of some of them who supported the project to illustrate the diversity and scale of their contributions. 486 Volunteers gave their amazing energy and creativity to the project... 3800 Hours of their time made it possible, before, during, and after the event. Shona, Emmeline, and Team Love Shona's energy and coordination yet again made the huge catering operation come together to serve hundreds of guests. Shona (pictured centre) joined the Caring at Christmas team from Emmeline who joined forces with Team Love to make creamy chicken or squash pies, with mash, greens and a Christmas tree topper! Team Love Productions, Emmeline - you are legends! The Pony Chew Valley and Chef Josh Eggleton of Pony Chew Valley made over 400 Christmas lunches! Roasties donated by Salt and Malt, with Veggie Wellingtons from Root Bristol. Christmas Magic! Pasture brought along a beef stew with dumplings for over 200 guests. Much appreciation to the Pasture team! Bianchis Group fed over 200 guests with lasagne focaccia, and ratatouille. Amazing, yet again, Team Bianchis! Nadu served up vegetable and chicken curries for our guests. Massive thanks Nadu! Thank you for caring! Chez Candice Chez Candice cooked up some ready meals and brownies too! Greatly appreciated and enjoyed by our guests! Square Food Foundation made 200 ready meals for our volunteers to deliver to people in temporary or precarious accommodation. Huge thanks to all involved at Square Food Foundation! Prestige Hire / BES Systems for the Christmas Day kitchen (Prestige) and its marquee (BES)- making an impressive field kitchen for the talented chefs and their teams! Fantastic! On our Trinity site... Mel (pictured right) led a team in our onsite kitchen who made 150 deserts and 200 sandwiches every day, plus loads of prep (peeled 20kg of sprouts) and washing up, including the 200 gastro trays being used! Stunning! Mei Mei's Streetcart Our in house chef (Mei Mei's Streetcart) made an amazing turkey & chorizo stew and carrot cake using food diverted from waste from FareShare South West. Great work, making a difference in many ways! More heroes... We can't forget Pumphouse Bristol who gave 300 delicious chocolate brownies, Catley's who donated a huge batch of buns for Christmas Day Breakfast, Pie Minister for the Boxing Day pies, and BaxterStorey, The Community Farm, and Yeo Valley who made big, invaluable donations that made a real difference! And even more... We're incredibly grateful to everyone who came to our donation drop off days to bring food, clothing, and toiletries for our guests. And to everyone who donated to our Christmas Appeal, helping to sustain activities throughout Christmas and into the New Year. You are all part of the movement to push back against homelessness in our city. We're not finished yet! Once we've done the number crunching, analysis, and sifted through the feedback that is still coming in, we'll be bringing it all together in our 2024 Caring at Christmas impact report. We want everyone to see that the difference we make together is effective and very much needed.
