Our Work Caring at Christmas Caring at Christmas in the Media The hard work and generosity of our volunteers, business partners, and donors is massively valued by the team at Caring in Bristol. It's great to see everyone's efforts recognised in the media, raising awareness about the need for more support and resources for people experiencing a homelessness crisis, especially at Christmas - one of the coldest, hardest, most isolating times of the year. 2025 ITV Westcountry (December, 2025) ITV Westcountry visited the project to see how preparations were progressing. One visit showed donations being sorted in our base, and another visited our set-up team the day before launching. They were in the process of getting goods and equipment into the Trinity Centre, decorating the space, and making sure it was ready for the launch. We were also invited to take part in live broadcasts by the John Darvall show in BBC Radio Bristol. Across these two interviews, we explored the reasons why Caring at Christmas is needed, as well as some of the realities of homelessness and housing insecurity. Two of our amazing volunteers also shared their experience of volunteering in the project, and explored their motivations for volunteering - encouraging others to consider this life-changing activity. 2024 ITV Westcountry (Christmas Eve, 2024) Broadcaster Robert Murphy looks around the project, and some of its new resources for 2024. he finds out why the project is needed more than ever... 2023 BBC Breakfast (Boxing Day, 2023) BBC's Fiona Lamdin visited our pop-up day centre at Bristol's Trinity Centre to meet volunteers and staff, all off to an early start and busy preparing the space ready to create a festive atmosphere, provide support, and great food for hundreds of guests experiencing homelessness and precarious housing situations. She asks about the day's activities and facilities, as well as what motivates the volunteers... ITV Westcountry (December, 2023) ITV Westcountry's Richard Payne and team went behind the scenes to see volunteers and staff just days before the large-scale operation that is Caring at Christmas launched. They are seen sorting through clothing and food donations, ready for delivery to the Trinity Centre and our field kitchen. The clip ends with a post-project update from the volunteer shift leader, outlining how the project was the busiest ever due to increasingly tough conditions. Manage Cookie Preferences
